I remember the first time I saw Jeremiah. He and my son, Ben, were both around 16 and were in the high school band together. Jeremiah’s hair was looong and I remember saying to Ben, “If you think you’re going to run around with HIM, you’re wrong. It’s not going to happen!”
It wasn’t long before Jeremiah showed up at the house with some other boys and I have to tell you — the second I stopped judging him because of his hair, I really liked him. It wasn’t long after that he became a semi-permanent fixture around my place.
Both boys got married and drifted apart until they recently reconnected. I wasn’t surprised when Jeremiah showed up at the house… but I was surprised that he showed up with his kids! =) He has a son and a beautiful daughter that’s really close to Coco’s age. Coco was so THRILLED to see kids out here! The 3 of them ran around until the 2 girls had a head-on collision.
They still liked each other, but neither seemed as interested in running after that. (Whew!)
Looking at Ben and Jeremiah together seemed strange (maybe because it made me feel soooo old) — those two with children of their own. Even better was hearing them laugh and watching them play video games… it was just like they were still 16. Only Jeremiah has short (and balding) hair, and Ben’s hair is long. I can’t believe I didn’t take a photo of the two of them — but I did get the next best thing… both little girls look a whole lot like their Dads.
