child neglect in Indiana

Mar 11, 2013

I read something disturbing today…

CASA (a non-profit organization/program — Court Appointed Special Advocates) reported a statistic that I was totally unaware of, and to be honest, it shocked me:

Per capita, Scott County, Indiana has the highest rate of child abuse and neglect in the entire state of Indiana.”

Four short miles south of the Ville, you guys. That means the poorest neighborhoods (ghettos) in Gary (for example) may have more reported incidents of child neglect/abuse, but that’s just because there’s a lot more people living there. So to me, this translates to something extremely simple…

Per capita, there are more evil monsters living 4 miles south of me than anyplace else in the entire state of Indiana.

Sad. Shocking. Absolutely horrible.
