in the midst…

Dec 15, 2012

You may not agree — and that’s ok — but all the talk of gun control is making my head spin. I’m not sure why a female kindergarden teacher (that’s what CNN calls her — the Chicago Tribune says she’s a part-time substitute teacher) felt the need to have the guns she had. I really don’t. But she didn’t pull the trigger. Adam Lanza, her son, did. He could’ve made a bomb, or set a fire, etc. — other acts that would’ve had a similar devastating effect.

I hate it when something so horrific turns immediately to political arguing. While those little kids were still laying cold inside that school… gun advocates and anti-gun advocates were going after each other and spitting vitriol — with the media providing the platform for more hate. I’m not saying I know the answer to what should be done or shouldn’t be done insofar as gun control, but I do know as a human beings, we need to open our hearts more to others.

“In the midst of yesterday’s tragedy, can we each hold space to open our hearts a little more?”
