Still hovering at around 60°F with rain

Yesterday and today are almost twins. Yesterday, it rained about all day and through the night — and today we can expect more of the same.

Since the temps are remaining fairly mild, I guess I shouldn’t complain. While I’d love this to be snow, even I’m about over the cold weather until next winter. Enough is enough.

Ever wonder why it feels colder when it’s damp and rainy? Me too! ChatGPT says it’s primarily because of evaporative cooling. All that moisture in the air has to evaporate. As it does, it absorbs heat from its surroundings to change from liquid to gas. As a result, the air feels cooler even when the air temp hasn’t changed.

I do have a family member that loves rain…

Dharma loves rain.

I’m pretty sure water never reaches her skin no matter how long she’s outside in the rain. Giving her a bath is a chore with all the undercoat she has — it takes forever to get through it all. Just rain likely runs right off. On the floor… the walls she rubs against…

Now you know: Walt Disney fired the creator of Goofy for trying to start a union.

the evil posts are dead

the evil posts are dead

Sitting in my office Sunday morning I heard a loud noise that I assumed was something extraordinarily heavy falling off of a very large truck. You see, I’m getting new neighbors next door and someone decided Thanksgiving morning at around 6:00 AM would be a great time to start putting on a new roof. Yes. 6:00 AM on Thanksgiving morning… a holiday… a day some people (ME!) might like to sleep in. I simply assumed it was those bastards workers doing what they’d been doing so very well — making racket. But NO!

another one bites the dust

My remaining brick post claimed another vehicle. Another total loss. Some young kid that was doing something other than paying attention drove into the yard and back out through a brick driveway column. He was bleeding; I saw the officers give him a breathalyzer test. After that, I’m not sure what happened. Before that, the older woman in an SUV who witnessed the accident rather handily called the driver a ‘liar’ when he claimed he swerved to miss her. She wasted no time telling the police what she saw either — and she didn’t hold back.

So now that both posts are dead, I can only assume it’s safe to travel here once again. I’m thinking I should consider light poles as a replacement option.

nanny used to fix HIM pancakes

I always try to ask Ben if it’s ok before I give Coco junk to eat because I remember when his Nanny used to feed him pancakes at 8:00 PM and send him home for me to try to calm and put to bed. But it’s to the point that the second Coco walks in the door she expects a popsicle. I’m pretty sure she has ulterior motives though. When you get a popsicle (or Fudgsicle in this instance), you get to sit on a blanket and you have Nana’s undivided attention.

gimme that popsicle

I simply can’t wait until it’s warm enough to enjoy the sunroom. I’ve never had a fenced in yard before and I think that in itself is going to be pretty darned handy. C’mon spring!! Popsicles are supposed to be eaten outside in the sunshine!

i live in a world of trees in threes

Whenever it snows, I always share photos here on WhatIfItDid. In the past, I would most often times share a shot taken off the back deck in the Ville of the neighbor’s red barn. But now, I live in a world of trees in threes…

trees in threes

There’s no barn in neighbor’s yard across the street from the 80’s house — matter of fact, the landscaping is such that all trees are planted in threes. Seriously. Check it out in the photo above! (Note to self: Every time you plant a shrub or a tree, you must plant 2 more to keep it company.) Yes, it’s beautiful… but I’d be lying if I said I like it better than what I looked at out the front windows of the house in the Ville.

there's no barn

Part of it is I’m homesick I guess. I’m not far from friends and family… but it’s the HOME I miss. You know, the one I struggled to keep when I was as poor as dirt and that I raised my family in. Guess it’s time to make some memories here…
