one year closer to retirement

one year closer to retirement

You know how I said I had my days mixed up? Welp, I almost missed posting about my buddy’s birthday today! Alisa is one year closer to retirement… and that means one year closer to us forming a business partnership.

Our true calling in life!

We haven’t yet established our roles in the future business because we are both pretty decent investigators. We also haven’t adopted a business name but that too will come in time. Just know that in a few short years, all your “need to know” objectives can be realized by reaching out to our one-stop investigation shop!

Happiest of birthdays my dear friend — your future is so bright! ❤️

happy birthday, old pal!

happy birthday, old pal!

That was the subject line from an email I received this morning. The body of the message contained a list of 100 places where you can eat for free on your special day. I won’t be going to any of them since I have homemade lemon-blueberry bread from Sherry to eat instead! YUM!

It’s windy, rainy and cold (35° but feels like 29° according to weather.com) and isn’t likely to improve a whole lot throughout the day. Perry’s off and wants to take me to my restaurant of choice, but I think I’d prefer to be low-key… like maybe Thai to bring home and consume over the next 3 or 4 days. 🙂

I’m not ready to roll it all up yet!

Sherry mentioned last night that she wouldn’t need another car… ever. I said, “you mean you’re keeping the car you have until you’re dead?Yup — that’s exactly what she meant. Not gonna lie — I’m ready to slow down the pace insofar as work, but I’m far from wanting to slow down the pace of LIVING!

I want to transition my current pace of 75% of my time spent in front of the computer and on the phone working deals — to 35% doing that and the rest on stuff I enjoy.

All you oldies but goodies go on ahead and roll it up… but don’t wait on me!

TIL (Today I Learned): There is an illness called “erotomania.” It’s a rare condition in which patients are deluded into believing that somebody who likely doesn’t know them is infatuated with them.

i predict rain by steam mops

Every single time I steam mop my floors it rains. There’s way more wood floors under my tender care than I want or need, and rain outside means puppy prints everywhere inside. The weather yesterday during the day was so amazing I even cleaned up the patio room! That’s BEFORE the slight rain we had overnight. ARG!

I moved a plant out there and I hope I didn’t jump the gun. I’d sure hate to have killed it before it even got to enjoy the “real” spring that’s right around the corner. Down to around 37°F last night — is that too cold for a plant that’s in a room without heat but not really outside? Hope it can hang on just a little longer because it’s supposed to be back in the 70’s by weekend.

Goin’ to the chapel…

Katie and Skilaire

Jerilyn is in full wedding planning mode and hits me up often with questions. We figured out we didn’t even know the last name of one of our cousins. While maybe we could get by with that fact if it were a 2nd or 3rd cousin… but nope. We should be ashamed, right?

That friend that gets your humor…

It’s awesome to have a friend that gets your humor… especially when it’s not really funny. 😉 I was looking through my text messages trying to find something when I re-read what a friend and I texted back and forth during the State of the Union address. I snickered all over again.

While it got more comical when ole’ Nancy awkwardly stood up rubbing her hands together when Biden began talking about toxic burn pits — and that part of our text exchange is a bit too crude to share here — even this part made me smile again…

Here’s to friends, and weddings, and spring cleaning, and even dirty puppy paw prints! It’s almost weekend. Yippee!

How cool is it when the floral designer that delivers ALSO brings cookies to your door? Pretty darned awesome, y’all.

beautiful bouquet

I didn’t know Sherry was coming… I’m not sure I’d brushed my hair yet; however, I had brushed my teeth. Wearing a pair of shorts and working like a mad woman at the computer, I debated on if I should answer the door.

Once I saw who it was, I knew it didn’t matter what I looked like at that moment… Sherry could care less. She’s seen me at my worst. I only have a few friends that I know love me no matter what — Jerilyn, Alisa and Sonya, too.

Happy to get the beautiful flowers from Sonya Lewis Lentz along with a card with the following reminder:

“Old friends are like memories… when you get the chance to make a good one, you never forget it.”

After a couple cookies and a cup of coffee, there were smiles all around.

Me and Sherry are old friends too!
happy birthday to me!

happy birthday to me!

I’m posting this early… before green beer and all that other St. Patrick’s Day/Birthday celebration stuff because I want to share a photo of something I got last week to enjoy during my birthday week…

flowers for my special day

Flowers are always a thoughtful gift… but you guys, I haven’t seen Sonya in YEARS upon years.  My chin remains resting on my desk! Still, my eyes enjoyed the beauty and my nose the fragrance — and the thoughtful gesture made getting old(er) just a little easier.
