today is mow the grass day

Today is the day the grass here must be cut since the new driveway goes in tomorrow… I think it does anyway. Text messages from the sellers were confusing. “We’ll be working on the driveway on Thursday…” and then, “we’ll pick up the packages when we’re there on Saturday…

I just want the driveway in and the playset down and moved. Oh… and the closing — I’d like that done too. 🙂

Yesterday was “see if we can make Shelley stroke out” day.

Trying to clean up the landscaping mess, I probably made 2500 trips from the front door to the woods to dump Teddy Bear’s trusty (and ancient) wheel barrow. The small incline felt like a mountain after 10 trips but I did not stroke out in the 90° F heat.

The inside needs attention too.

Just as there are a bajillion things that need attention outside, the inside is rough too. I’ve never seen so many dings and tears in drywall in my life. And there’s a wooden letter “R” stuck on the wall in the upstairs bath that I’ll need a prybar to remove. Sheesh!

At this point, I’m just putting furniture inside, hanging up stuff on existing nails, and waiting on the closing so I can go to war. I’ll be patching and painting for the next who knows how long. G’bye green!

Fall comes tomorrow. Probably.

The forecast is for high temps to be 20° cooler than yesterday and today. I love the change of seasons in the Midwest! Looking forward to sweatshirts and bonfires, you guys. I’ve got the s’mores ingredients waiting.

TIL (Today I Learned): In 2006, FBI agents attempted to arrest prison guards at the Federal Correctional Institution, Tallahassee, after having learnt the guards were trading drugs for sex with female inmates. One of the guards opened fire with a personal handgun, killing one agent and wounding another.

a trip to the ville

a trip to the ville

Perry picked up a couple trees on clearance — an apple and a plum. Yesterday, we drove to the Ville to drop them off because we decided to plant them there. I was packed in the front seat with ZERO leg room. By the time we finally arrived, I had one foot and leg that was numb.

I admit, I REALLY miss having this view…

backyard view

I like Seymour because I’m close to everything. I can get groceries and food delivered. If I want to get out and bug around there’s shopping, food choices, and more right here — and Columbus isn’t far either. What I can’t do; however, is sneak into Mr. Pesky’s garden and steal a green onion or a tomato.

Check out this beauty of a garden!

Mr. Pesky's awesome garden

Green onions are already up and there should be enough tomatoes to feed all of Jackson County this year. 🙂

Hospital selfie incoming tomorrow!

Another appointment for Mom at her orthopedic doctor located within the hospital today. While living near the hospital could be one more happy mark on the “living in Seymour” side of the pro/con sheet, it still won’t get me the Depp/Heard live courtroom drama time I desire this time around.

Johnny Depp is supposed to be called back to the stand this morning and of course, I’ll miss it. 😔

Happy this is the last week of the Depp/Heard trial. I’m interested to hear the verdict, but figure ole’ Johnny’s overwhelmingly won the public’s support even if he doesn’t get the $50million he’s asking for in the lawsuit.

TIL (Today I learned): When “Jaws” was filmed, Steven Spielberg initially wanted to build a giant mechanical shark for realism, but its constant malfunctioning proved to be a budgeting nightmare, so he came up with the cheaper solution of shooting from the shark’s POV in the waters instead.

the weather outside is frightful!

let it snow!

My hands froze (and fell off my arms and shattered into a bajillion pieces) just holding the camera for this shot. While I often stand inside with my lens pressed to the window to avoid cold temperatures, I actually went outside this time.

You know, I often yearn for a home located in an area that boasts a warm climate and plenty of sun. But not today! I LOVE snow, you guys. And, I’m not the only one…

it's delightful!

The white stuff is steadily falling here in the Ville and I’m hoping it doesn’t stop until we have at least a foot. (No more ice, please — I don’t want downed power lines.) If you’re local… be safe — and enjoy the fabulous scenery. If you live in an area that boasts a warm climate and plenty of sun, just know it’s ok to be jealous.

perseverance

perseverance
1. steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

There is a tree I see while driving back and forth from the Ville to the 80’s House that inspires the same thought in my head every single time. Of course, I see a LOT of trees. But this one stands out, you guys! I have no clue what caused its oddity — it could have been trimmed at a particular height and made a spectacular adjustment… or it could’ve been hit by lightning or fell victim to some other act of nature — one can only guess. What I DO know is this ugly tree screams at me every time I lay eyes on it. “PERSEVERANCE!”

you go ugly tree!
