if you care, it makes you sad. if you don’t…

Facebook removes posts that they determine are offensive. What they don’t remove are all the videos and images of maimed and starving animals that I simply can’t scroll fast enough not to notice. People who love animals are heartbroken by these posts — and those who don’t love animals don’t care. So what’s the point, really?

Facebook’s policies allow these photos/videos to raise awareness.

That’s what they claim anyway. I can’t adopt every dog from the foreign countries where they live. I already think humans that mistreat pets are monsters. Those monsters aren’t going to be persuaded to change just because of something they saw on Facebook. So again, what’s the point?

Dharma has a great life.

Dharma might look sad in the photo above, but I can promise you she isn’t. (That’s her “Merida is annoying” look — I have one of those too.) She’s not allowed to browse social media so she’s not seen those awful offerings.

the internet has fundamentally transformed every aspect of human life

the internet has fundamentally transformed every aspect of human life

We are in an era of unprecedented connectivity and information access. With instantaneous global interactions through email, social media, and messaging apps, traditional forms of communication have been replaced.

All you need is an internet connection and you have access to a virtual marketplace open 24/7. You have access to a vast repository of knowledge at your fingertips. Even education has transcended physical boundaries — online courses are out there for anything you want to learn.

EVERYTHING IS THERE — except real, physical, human interaction and appreciation of one’s surroundings.

Oh, you can visit places around the world and that’s great… but not if you ignore the beauty that’s in your own backyard. Being able to instantly connect with others is great… but only if you remember how important it is to maintain and foster healthy physical interactions.

You must give up some of one to benefit from the other.

The average person spends almost 7 hours per day on screens connected to the Internet — that’s hours outside of work, y’all.

Isn’t it time for you to find a better balance? I know it’s time for me. Today, I need to find a pillow that the wind took away to unknown places. 🙂

Now you know: The average worker spends nearly 12% of their working hours using unproductive social media apps. Every year in the US, social media distractions at work cost businesses around $650 billion.

money is money, right?

money is money, right?

Morning coffee in front of me before doctor’s appointment for my Mom numbered 2384, I surfed through news articles and Twitter. It appears to me that the mainstream media is throwing a baby fit over the Depp/Heard court decision.

Heard’s attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, made the PR rounds yesterday saying the exact same things over and over. These appearances were picked up by other outlets and good ole’ Elaine’s face was everywhere.

What I took from her appearances are claims that: (a) Amber was “demonized” in the courtroom by Depp’s lawyers, (b) they “won” in the UK trial, (c) evidence was suppressed in this trial by the bad judge, (d) social media played a large role in the loss because it favored Depp and cameras were in the courtroom, (e) Heard is going to appeal, and (f) she can’t pay the damages awarded to Depp because she has no money.

How can Amber Heard pay for an appeal but has no money to pay damages? And what about Snoop Dogg?

CNN promotes clickbait

Mainstream media outlets simply can’t understand why we’re not believing them. Really?

Y’all… while we might have some nice homes in my city, I’m not aware of any Snoop Dogg mansion and I’ve not seen him shopping at the local Walmart. I even looked for him at the hospital today, but sadly, I didn’t catch a glimpse of him anywhere. We couldn’t even find his mansion from a 5th floor vantage point… please be more specific CNN. 🙄

looking for Snoop's place.

And finally, Amber Heard’s op-ed piece that was published by The Washington Post — you know, the center of this whole thing — didn’t remove the article that was found to have been untrue, defamed Depp, and was written/published with malice. What they did was to add an editor’s note.

Do you think that’s enough?

TIL (Today I Learned): Snoop Dog claimed that in 1994, Queen Elizabeth stopped him from getting kicked out of the UK over murder charges.

welcome to the club… or not

welcome to the club… or not

You may already be a member — or maybe you’ve not even heard about it — but Clubhouse is said to be the next major social media platform. (There’s no version for Android right now.) Because I’m currently turned off by ALL SOCIAL MEDIA I probably wouldn’t have joined if not for my favorite brother.

Clubhouse is a live audio platform. There are rooms that allow you to listen to or actively participate in live discussions. Nothing is recorded so when the room ends, it’s gone forever. What makes it so different is that there’s no written comments or private messaging. Read more here on how to get started if you’re interested…

Right now, it’s invite only. If you haven’t been invited, you can still download the app and set-up your account. Someone who knows you might be notified you’ve joined and grant you access.

I’m not making any predictions on the future of Clubhouse. It wouldn’t be fair since my tolerance for all social media platforms is at an all-time low. Facebook is saturated with multilevel marketing and ads to buy stuff — with political opinions sprinkled generously in-between.

Someone sends you a friend request and you accept because you have 47 other friends in common. 10-minutes later, you’re sent a link to their Pampered Chef party. If they’re selling make-up, be prepared to watch your friend host at least one Facebook live a week so you can see them apply foundation and lipstick. Tell me your favorite color and you’ll be entered to win $500! (And then, I’ll pepper you with an offer of two gummies a day clinically proven to shrink fat cells.) Ummm… nope.

I’m social enough, you guys. I even have company in the bathroom… every single time…

Since at least two gorillas at the San Diego Zoo tested positive for COVID-19, I should probably look at today’s statistics for humans. You interested?

Facebook has gone off the deep end with censorship. It’s been said that it’s the arm of the Democratic party. Twitter even blocked sharing of a New York Post article about the Biden’s foreign corruption & China dealings. Just weeks before the election, tech giants united and it’s said they blocked incriminating reporting about their preferred candidate.

I know that I’m ALWAYS served up election disclaimers on Facebook… even now. Almost every conservative political post is tagged with, “Election officials follow strict rules and have found no evidence of widespread fraud. The rest of the look like this:

But the post below, written by a co-owner of a speaker bureau (yes, really), was not flagged at all. Take a minute to read it. All of it! Facebook thinks it’s a-ok. Do you?

On Tuesday I shared a short video by Larry Winget on Facebook. Larry is a NYT bestselling author, Hall of Fame Speaker, and frequent Fox News contributor. He and my favorite brother are friends. Facebook flagged my shared post and prevented anyone from seeing it:

Larry Winget video disallowed on Facebook

Want to see the offensive video that went against the Facebook community standards because they prevent false advertising, fraud and security breaches? I thought it was about showing respect for and being nice to one another — how dumb of me, says Facebook. Here it is…

Was I happy to see the headline, “Facebook must be broken up, the US government says in a groundbreaking lawsuit“? Why yes, yes I was.

If you truly believe the post written by a business woman was not offensive but the video share of Larry was, I would suggest there’s a problem. Maybe the problem is me… maybe it’s you. Either way, I was Facebook flagged and lived to tell about it!

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that new rules might be coming for Indiana because of the spike in COVID cases. Well, Holcomb said we were “on fire” and next week hospitals are not allowed to do non-emergency procedures. That’s it.
