Snow in the burg — not too much, but just enough to be pretty. Here’s the bad news — it’s supposed to be in the negative digits by weekend. 🙁

Politics as usual…

I’ve been reading the different news stories today about the Michigan primary – and I’m still as dissatisfied with our political system as ever.

Throughout this entire campaign every single candidate has said the following about themselves: “I’m the candidate of REAL change in Washington.” For awhile – I believed some of them – no longer.

Have you seen the latest quotes from them? Each one has spouted the same silly rhetoric as candidates before them have. Sen. Clinton has said that this is “The most important election in our nation’s history” – well duh!!! Is it just me, or is EVERY election not important? Think about it – every four years we go to the polls to elect the one person we feel is the best to lead our nation. Someone who will right what we consider “unjust”, will bring fiscal responsibility for the tax dollars that we work so hard to give our government, fix our seriously ailing school systems, and make sure the country we all love is defended from those who mean us harm. Each election has provided us with someone who doesn’t get the job done – why?

I believe the answer is simply this – the two party system does NOT work! Both parties have lost touch with the people they represent. Democrats and Republicans know one thing – we will elect one or the other because we have no other choice – there is no “neither nor” option on a ballot so we pick the “lesser of two evils” sometimes.

It goes beyond elections too – policy is dictated by the majority party and filibustered by the minority. Even if the policy in question is good for the nation – both sides have been guilty of blocking legislation that could have improved the nation. Deals are made behind closed doors, alliances built to further one’s standing in Washington, and bills introduced that benefit campaign contributors.

So – we now get to choose a candidate the represents “real change” huh? Knowing how these candidates were before this election – I highly doubt it…

There’s Something in the Air.

Today Steve Jobs takes the podium at MacWorld 2008 to deliver the keynote. As I wait the last 45 minutes until he begins to unveil what’s new in Apple products, I am excited — not at the prospect of spending money on the new stuff (which I undoubtedly will do), but simply seeing in action what the ultimate “to own” items will be for 2008.

I’ve faithfully been reading MAC Rumors now for the past week (even more so with the upcoming MacWorld event), and in past years have noticed that they do include accurate previews of what is to come. It never spoils the excitement, but only helps to build the anticipation.

I just pulled the Apple.com site and guess what…

Almost Twins

Today I got a private message in reference to the latest “Karen tactic”. It was from her son explaining that upon questioning his mother about the delivery, her account of the situation was that the pictures were actually intended for Curt Kovener, the Editor of the local paper. Curt…Buster… The names are so very similar I can understand how a mistake might’ve been made. Heh.

What’s This All About?

Today, Buster goes into the post office to check his PO Box for mail — just as he does most every day. Carolyn King said that Karen Mains had left something for him with her at the Post Office, asking that she hand deliver it when he stopped in. What Karen left for Buster was 2 pieces of paper with photos on them. I scanned them, and here they are:

Mug shots printed from the Scott County Jail.

Neither Buster nor I know these people, and don’t recall ever seeing them before. I did an Internet search and found that they were arrested for allegedly selling cocaine. We don’t know if it means, “If you don’t drop the appeal, you’ll end up in jail”, or if it means that she plans to have drugs planted so Buster will go to jail… or if she’s just a moron and it means nothing other than something to harass him. But no matter what its intent was, the fact is that Karen had these articles delivered to Buster by a Federal employee. And, the real pisser is the fact that if it had been Buster that sent something like that to Karen — he would already be in jail.

Soooo, IMO, Karen is spending Scott County tax dollars to work her Crothersville dirty politics — and Crothersville taxpayers are paying out money on her behalf for that as well. Now she’s pulled in poor Carolyn — who has no way out as she will be called to court at one point or another. Pathetic huh?
