Perry and I took the afternoon off for a trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. It’s been forever since I left my computer on a regular work day, and the whole “all work and no play” thing was beginning to ring true. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen a wild animal (with the exception of my hounds) if not on TV. It was Coco’s first trip to the zoo.

On the drive, we talked about our “favorite zoo animals”… the ones we expected to see. Mine are the polar bears and the meerkats (probably because of the meerkat jQuery plugin but maybe not because they are really cute).

It was a truly wonderful day — and I’m grateful that I got to watch Coco sleep through the viewing of most of the animals, and squirm to get down close to the Tigers while saying, “Good Gog.”
But on the way back to the Ville, we started a list of the animals we EXPECTED to see but didn’t. No hippos, kangaroos, CHIMPS, gorillas, hyenas, wolves — no leopards, panthers, pandas, koalas, crocs or gators. Are those not at zoos anymore? Although I can’t remember the last time I went to a zoo, or even which zoo I went to, I DO remember watching a bunch of chimps and I remember seeing gorillas. Where is your freaking monkey exhibit Indianapolis Zoo?? I expected more than 4 or 5 baboons. After all, I did take the afternoon off. =)

I remember how my Mom acted when she learned that Elvis was dead. I thought it was the craziest thing ever! I couldn’t understand why she seemed to care so much for someone she didn’t even know.
Yes, I complain about my computer and especially my iPhone — but that doesn’t mean I’m not in awe every single time I think about how our lives (ALL our lives) have been shaped by the genius of Steve Jobs.
I get it, Mom.

I rarely call support for assistance on anything, but after weeks of frustration with my trash can (yes, my computer’s trash can), and after searching through the Apple support files for help and finding nada, I decided to reach out to them.
This is where it gets interesting…
I chose the option for “express lane” expecting to get some ‘chat live online’ thing. But no! I simply logged into my .mac account through the support area of their site, entered in my computer’s serial number and my phone number, and selected to have an agent “CALL ME NOW”. I hit submit and guess what?! My phone rings. How cool is that?
Too bad my story doesn’t end there with a satisfactory resolution. The downside is the call lasted 28 minutes and the end result?
Reinstall the operating system, Lion.
An easy answer for them — basically that translates to… hang up, and take a few hours of YOUR time to re-download and re-install their software. Always the obedient little MAC girl, I jump through the hoops and it fixes NOTHING. 10 minutes of searching macrumors.com, I find the answer and fix it myself in 3 minutes.
But yanno what the real problem is?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Apple. So…I have a phone that has a ton of awesome apps, but doesn’t really work as a phone — and a computer that was eating trashed files without permission, and my beloved Apple pretty much failed me this time.

Mother Nature is trying to play a cruel trick on the Ville. It’s true!
Before lunch today, and knowing that my mums (the bajillion around the house that seem to get bigger every year) are blooming, I grab my camera as I let the dogs outside and plan to get a photo to share with you. Rather than switch to the appropriate lens, I simply lean down really close.

Standing right beside me, Libby pokes her nose against the mum I’m photographing, and out pops a bunny! To say I was startled would be a ginormous understatement. As Libby’s darting behind the furry hopper as it’s making a daring escape, I’m yelling for her not to kill it. (Yes, she understands human. The bunny lives!) As far as I know, the neighbors did not call the police concerned about all the commotion next door.
But then, I notice a sibling bunny! Once the hounds were safely back inside, bunny #2 was happy to pose for a photo.

So as fall is now in full swing, Mother Nature thinks she can put bunnies and sunshine and flower blooms out there in the universe and trick us into believing it’s spring. I might’ve been fooled if not for the view…

A new work-week begins tomorrow. We’re supposed to have frost even. Still, it was a fabulous weekend! And here is proof…

Hope y’all had a wonderful weekend too — and are motivated to do great things this week!
