toasted photos

Even if you’re like me and love working with RAW photos taken with an incredibly cool camera, you may also be like me and not want to pack it around with you every single time you go into a restaurant or another place where wonderful memories are made. If not for my iPhone, I might’ve already forgotten this…

Don’t worry what others might think (even if they look at you with an eyebrow raised) as you snap crappy photos with your smart phone. Take them anyway and ignore others who just don’t “get it.”

Steve Jobs: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

I would’ve been really mad at myself if I missed this just because I was trapped by dogma…

even prettier than her name…

Colette Fawn.

It isn’t often I get a ‘serious’ photo of this little girl. It’s really rare when I can catch her holding still. She loves to be photographed and as soon as I get ready to focus… she moves in so close, I’m lucky to get a nose. But isn’t it awesome to relax and hang out with wonderful people?

coco thinks bald guys are funny

My Dad had bypass surgery twice. I was there with him both times. Neither were pretty. He had sinus surgery once, and I remember that too. Matter of fact, I played in my head over and over again something I remember he said so very long ago, “I would take 3 more bypass surgeries before I ever, EVER let anyone do ANYTHING to my sinuses again.

As luck would have it, I inherited Mom’s ugly feet and Dad’s sinuses. Yay me! But it’s all good. Dad can keep those split your chest operations, the sinus thing isn’t that bad. Still, I made certain I stayed BEHIND the camera. And, that was pretty awesome too because Coco thinks bald guys are extremely funny, which is edibly cute. The “hair on your face and not on your head” fashion is something she’s fascinated with.

Coco thinks Perry is a hoot — and she’s not even seen him do the Arsenio Hall pump yo’ fist thing yet! (whoot whoot whoot!)

one condition remained

I spent Sunday doing my favorite thing on the planet… visiting with family. The short one-hour drive north was a smorgasbord of crazy scenery. It was already 50 degrees when we pulled out of the driveway located on the outskirts of the ville. All the ice dropped from the winter storm on Thursday has long since melted, and nothing but puddles remain. But just north of Columbus, tree branches still glistened with a thick coating of ice, and the fences that line the highway looked as if they were covered in glass. Farther north, the ice turned to a bit more snow on the ground.

The one condition that remained constant (besides MY condition) was the fog.

The photo above was taken out the window at a speed of about 80 MPH… or 1/650. (According to which speed you’re interested in.)

there is always someone better

Knowing there is always someone better than you doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still strive to be the best you can be. It also doesn’t mean you should lack self-confidence in your abilities or feel like you can never aspire to be successful or fabulous in your own right.

Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground.
