time flies when you’re having fun

I know I said that I was going to post every single day beginning January 1 — and I’ve stuck to that (so far). So what if yesterday I posted a photo of toilet paper! Sooooo what!

Today as I began to write this, I was thinking about how many more days I have left till the end of the year. My very next thought was reference all the posts I’ve made so far! I think I’m struggling because as winters go, this one has been about as boring and uneventful as they come. No beautiful snow to photograph, no happy puppies playing in it, and no daring trips over icy terrain to capture — just sunnier than normal days, Easter Lilies blooming when they aren’t supposed to, and this…

My pear tree will be blossoming soon. And then what?

over or under

We are creatures of habit. We do things the same way we’ve always done them. Over. And. Over. We cross arm arms with the same one on top… doing otherwise feels silly. When we clasp our hands, the same thumb is always on top.

Try it!
Just try putting that other thumb on top… that other arm on top.
Seeeeee?

It feels so unnatural. We are creatures of habit. And another example? It makes me crazy when the toilet paper doesn’t roll from the top. Yes… I’m an over. What are you?

be a great listener

People LOVE, love, love talking about themselves.

Why?
Because it’s the one thing THEY know the most about!

Building business & personal relationships is essential… and it’s fun! Asking questions and really caring about the answers is the perfect place to begin.

Dogs already know this…

when ‘getting it right’ is lame

According to CNET news, a settlement has been reached in a class-action lawsuit targeting the antenna performance of Apple’s iPhone 4. Me and about 25 million other people can get $15 cash back or a free bumper/case.

2 years of dropped calls and I can get $15 bucks?

So I pay AT&T a hefty sum every month that includes an additional $29 bucks for an iPhone, and struggle to keep connected for two loooong years. I LOVE Apple, but the iPhone 4 was seriously the biggest POS Apple product I’ve ever owned. How many others will be like me, and figure it will take longer to claim a $15 settlement than it would to simply earn another $15?

Lame.

I love Siri. I love my new iPhone 4S, and I ESPECIALLY love my case (with the lovely girl in pink) without a bumper or any other crap necessary to make something work that should’ve worked in the first darned place. I’m still loyal to you Apple, but please… don’t pull something like this again.

a trip out west… no EAST

“We are going to take a trip out West.” < ----we've all heard that said. Right? "Let's go out East." < ----- no one says "out East”. Why?

The thing is… I did just that.

My regular “out East” crew were “down South” racing and missed the boat (pun intended). While it just wasn’t the same without Jerilyn & Tader, we didn’t let their absence keep us home. NO!

The drive from the Ville through Madison to Florence, Indiana is gorgeous anytime of the year. Most of it anyway. I’m always fascinated by the barges, lazily rolling down the river, and wonder if their operators are warm and cozy when chilly winds blow and I’m comfortable in the car.

But I also notice the river is lined with trailers — house trailers and camping trailers litter the water’s edge in little ‘trailer cities’ one right after the other. It takes away from the beauty really. Unless, of course, you’re staying in one of the trailers inside one of those little ‘trailer cities’ and are up-close and personal with the north bank of the Ohio River.

Charles Kuralt (the American journalist who you might remember for his “On the Road” segments that ran for a good long time on CBS) once wrote, “For me the princess of the rivers is unquestionably Madison. It is the most beautiful river town in America.”

Dude must’ve been talking about downtown Madison — or maybe he didn’t see the trailer cities, or possibly visited before they were erected.
