because I’m poor…

…and because if I walked outside to take a photo of the snow we DIDN’T get, my nose would shatter into a bajillion tiny fragments when faced with the frigid (-8 degrees not factoring in wind chill) air, I’m going to share a tip instead.

When you totally redo a house and you’ve set a budget, there are just some things that you can’t do immediately. But there’s a big ole’ problem when the things out of your budget are items you can’t do without — like window coverings. I want something really nice for the window in the living room of the 80’s house and even have in my head exactly what it’s to look like. And then, I tossed the thought around in my head… $13.57 or $2500.00… $13 bucks… $25 HUNDRED bucks. Knowing all the other items that have to get done, I figure $13.57 is a bit more doable — so I did it (for now!!) on the cheap.

on the cheap

Those curtains right there? Well… they are nothing more than a painter drop cloth. No sewing required — just cut right down the middle and do a whole bunch of ironing and voila! Certainly not dramatic, but hey… neither is $13.57. The living room sure looks different than it did when I started… even though it’s the only room that didn’t get new flooring:

and this is the before

And my picture frames are straight too!
