dogs do it – not for humans

Jan 9, 2019

There are a ton of things dogs do that humans don’t, but I only want to mention one specific thing — leg licking after eating.

Every single time Dharma and Gracie eat something they enjoy (peanut butter is Dharma’s all-time fav!), they lick their legs. After watching Dharma do it again about 5-minutes ago, I wanted to know why.

The first link I clicked from Google said it’s because of a food allergy. I somehow doubt they are BOTH allergic to everything they like to eat (people food). The next link said it might be to ‘clean off the tongue,’ and yet another said it’s because dogs love food more than they love you. Maybe you “get it,” but I fail to see why THAT would cause them to lick a leg!

Basically, I still have no clue why my puppies lick their legs after they swallow their favorite treats. See? Google doesn’t know EVERYTHING!

One thing I’m sure of? Neither Colette nor I licked our legs at El Nopal.

I’m pretty sure neither of us combed our hair before going there either. 🙂
