personal invitation to all finches in southern indiana

Mar 21, 2012

Today, I hung a finch feeder in the redbud tree that lives in the front yard. Excited to have a leg-up on the pesky neighbor “finch attracting competition”, I later found I only got about a 30-minute head start. Watching me with binoculars, they quickly followed suit and hung their feeder as well.

I tried the “hummingbird attraction competition” a few years back and lost miserably. Those little flippy birds can starve for all I care! But now, I’m hoping to do a bit better with the finch population. I got this GREAT feeder today (will share photos laters with bajillions of hungry little finches feeding around it), and bought the GOOD STUFF when it comes to finch seed. I figure with the coolest restaurant and the best food, they will come.

I had a few lookers, but no takers…and it wasn’t long until I found out why! First, if you were a bird, would you come close to this?

Was it enough the pesky neighbors conned my dog into working for them? No.

This is Perry, taking down the sign they planted right under the new finch feeder that read:
POISON! FLY WEST!
