what’s happened to the Disney Experience??

Planning a trip to Disney World in a few short weeks and I need assistance with purchases and changes to my reservation. The first number I call (listed on the reservation page), provides a “all circuits are busy now, please try your call again later” response. The second number I call (also on the reservation page) winds me through 1,000 automated questions only to tell me my on-hold wait time will be over 60-minutes.

This is not exceptional service!

Next, because my reservation was booked by a client using my maiden name, I can’t do anything online. It shows me as a guest of myself. Every single time we’ve been to Disney — that’s several — it’s a $10K money dump. Still, I have to wait AT LEAST one hour to talk to a human?

Next, I call the number provided to my client as their “special” contact person. I left a voice message and 1-hour later, I have not received a call-back. Note this client is reserving room blocks for over 1000 guests, booking their A/V team and a ballroom, and one of their inside speakers. That’s a huge expense! You’d think there would be some response, wouldn’t you? Next, I send an email to that same person. Again, over 1-hour later and I’ve not gotten a reply.

With all the other changes I’m not crazy about already, I’m tempted to just forget the whole trip. If not for the fact that my son and granddaughter are looking forward to it and the resort costs are covered, I would. I still may.

Customers base the experience you provide on ALL the experiences they receive as customers. I’ve gotten better service from every single transaction I’ve had within the past year than Disney is affording to me today. Amazon is better. Zappos is better. And even Walmart is better than you, Disney! The only experience I’ve had where I felt the level was about the same was COVID vaccine reporting.

I’m disappointed. This ride has started out pretty bumpy and I’m not sure where it will end…

bumpy ride, Disney

my facebook reminder for today

my facebook reminder for today

I popped on Facebook and noticed I had an “on this day” to view. My glance back at history was a photo I posted one year ago pushing the Distinction Summit — an online 3-day event we held in 2020 that we aren’t doing again this October. I posted that same photo here too:

Distinction Summit swag

The thing I first noticed is that in the photo from one-year ago I’m wearing a turtleneck sweater. Today’s 72° F forecast is NOT heavy sweater weather. So I came back to whatifitdid and searched for the day to see what the heck the weather was like in mid-October, 2020. I didn’t find that, but I did find the COVID severity numbers on that day. Comparing apples to apples (same website – same ‘who knows how accurate’ numbers) what I found was interesting.

The numbers below are calculated on daily cases per 100k on a 7-day rolling average.

  • Indiana: then – 24.6; now – 29.5 (65% of population with at least 1st vaccine)
  • Jackson County, IN: then – 37.8; now – 27.5 (52% of population with at least 1st vaccine)
  • Nevada: then – 19.6; now – 22.0 (74.5% of population with at least 1st vaccine)
  • Florida: then – 12.6; now – 12.6 (80% of population with at least 1st vaccine)

So all states/counties that I watch are either the same or higher than they were 1-year ago today. But don’t forget… along came the Delta variant. While numbers remain near the same even though we’re no longer locked down or restricted, as of today, 57.0% of all the US has been fully vaccinated, and 65.9% have taken at least the first dose.

Notice the lower numbers are in the states where vaccine percentages are higher. Does that prove the vaccines work? Maybe not… but it’s good enough to at least indicate we should encourage vaccinations me thinks. 🙂

Finally, although I’m not posing for a photo this morning, another female in the house was more than happy to:

some days are a sh*t show

some days are a sh*t show

My day went downhill from the moment my feet hit the floor this morning. Bet y’all can relate. We all have days where we feel like all we do is run as fast as we can but get nowhere. Mine started with a 6:30 AM text from a client about a 11:45 AM event. It was outlining changes they were required to make. Note this is 3:30 AM my brother’s time so it’s not like I can reach him to dump it.

Next, Merida decided to bring in a huge clod of grass after her early morning pee break. Where did it come from? Who knows! Where it ended up was a chewed up mess on the carpet. Yay! After picking up and sweeping up and scrubbing up (grass stain), I looked in the mirror to see my late-night haircut could’ve been a bit better, so…

And then, I check email to find a request from a client that’s booked a 1-hour virtual event wanting to schedule 2, 1-hour calls to discuss. In almost 20-years of doing this, I’ve never had a request for 2-hours worth of pre-event calls. Apple did their 3-hour live event pre-call in 20 minutes. So… I’m typing this before responding hoping to bring my BP down a notch.

And finally, a cadaver dog has been called to the Carlton Reserve in the search for Brian Laundrie. I want DOG TBH to find the dude alive. Hoping he’s not found dead but not wanting to miss it if they do, I have so many feeds up on Twitter I can’t get them all in without scrolling — on a 27″ monitor.

AND… I have the live video rocking from Eagle 8 of the current ground search for Brian Laundrie on another monitor while Dharma is grunting to go back outside for the 100th time.

Yes, some days are a sh*t show… and it’s barely noon here. Can’t wait to see what shakes out from here. 🙂

It’s after midnight so it’s technically Wednesday. First, happy birthday in heaven, Nanny! She was truly a gem and I sure do miss her.

Happy birthday to my Nanny!

And next, lemme tell you what is in store for me today! My favorite brother is hosting a 5-hour course on ‘Distinctive Storytelling.’ Essential in business, it forges a connection with your customers, prospects, colleagues, and more. There are a good number signed up to attend and that’s where it gets interesting.

You see, I know one of the attendees from another ongoing program, and I know yet another one of them personally. I know others too… but my focus will be on the interaction between those two women in particular.

Imagine the setting… virtual event with everyone on camera. Scott will have a session and then will utilize ‘hot seats’ and ‘group shares.’ In other words, people will be divided into groups to work on their own distinctive story — and will practice telling it to their group and allowing the group to critique for improvement.

Now picture one of the attendees is the author of a bestselling book with the title containing the word “Orgasm” — and one is a health and relationship coach for only “Godly women.”

You, too can have a ringside seat for only $297.00. And, you might even learn a thing or two.

Go to https://distinctivestory.com to sign-up, and remember, registration closes at NOON EASTERN.

welcome to the club… or not

welcome to the club… or not

You may already be a member — or maybe you’ve not even heard about it — but Clubhouse is said to be the next major social media platform. (There’s no version for Android right now.) Because I’m currently turned off by ALL SOCIAL MEDIA I probably wouldn’t have joined if not for my favorite brother.

Clubhouse is a live audio platform. There are rooms that allow you to listen to or actively participate in live discussions. Nothing is recorded so when the room ends, it’s gone forever. What makes it so different is that there’s no written comments or private messaging. Read more here on how to get started if you’re interested…

Right now, it’s invite only. If you haven’t been invited, you can still download the app and set-up your account. Someone who knows you might be notified you’ve joined and grant you access.

I’m not making any predictions on the future of Clubhouse. It wouldn’t be fair since my tolerance for all social media platforms is at an all-time low. Facebook is saturated with multilevel marketing and ads to buy stuff — with political opinions sprinkled generously in-between.

Someone sends you a friend request and you accept because you have 47 other friends in common. 10-minutes later, you’re sent a link to their Pampered Chef party. If they’re selling make-up, be prepared to watch your friend host at least one Facebook live a week so you can see them apply foundation and lipstick. Tell me your favorite color and you’ll be entered to win $500! (And then, I’ll pepper you with an offer of two gummies a day clinically proven to shrink fat cells.) Ummm… nope.

I’m social enough, you guys. I even have company in the bathroom… every single time…

Since at least two gorillas at the San Diego Zoo tested positive for COVID-19, I should probably look at today’s statistics for humans. You interested?

How severe the pandemic is in the places where people I care about are located…

Daily NEW COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average):
Indiana-79.82.7 (up); Jackson Co – 62.0 (up); Florida 74.2 (up); Nevada – 77.7 (slightly down)

TIL (Today I Learned): In 2007 a man in a wheelchair was hit by an 18 wheeler. The handles were ensnared within the grill of the truck and he was pushed at over 60 mph for several miles on the highway. Read about Ben’s wild ride…
