Nervous systems were on high alert at the barndo today. They were shouting messages to our blood vessels to shrink — and shrink they did. Once that happens, skin folds over the thin vessels and wrinkles form. In warm water, that takes around 5 minutes or so. We resembled prunes.
Warm water and chilly air… expected since it IS still winter.
The water was warm — bumping between 103° and 104° — and we were out there more than 5 minutes. A LOT more than 5 minutes. One of us had warm water above the neckline… and that someone was not me. 😉
She’s growing up and I’m growing old(er).
Coco’s at that stage where she seems so “grown up” at times — and 5 minutes later she acts like a kid half her age. She’s funny… and quirky… and I sure love spending time with her. ❤️
TIL (Today I Learned): Until 1921 the Colorado River did not flow through the State of Colorado. It took an act of Congress to “move” the river into the state by renaming the Grand River and adding it to the Colorado River.
A ‘Nanny saying’ passed to Mom… “rest your eggbag” — used when one is rushing or in too much of a hurry. I found myself saying it yesterday. Merida was the recipient but the excitement was caused by Colette. Not Coco’s fault at all… it’s just that Merida thinks she’s the best thing evah! 🙂
Around here, we all think that.
Yesterday morning was a bit frostier than this morning.
Matter of fact, it was cooler the entire day.
This morning started out nice, and right now we’re at 50 degrees and sunny. Not bad for mid February in Indiana, that’s for sure.
We’re just enjoying a relaxing Sunday. No matter what day you’re reading this, I hope your day is relaxing, as well.
TIL (Today I Learned): The thick white rind on the outside of a wheel of brie cheese is actually mold, Penicillum candidum.
We had a discussion while in the kitchen today about generations.
Generation Z…
My granddaughter is a zoomer – Generation Z. She’s not happy with that – she thinks they’re known for being stupid. Not so… they’re the first generation never to know the world without the internet, they value diversity and finding their own unique identity. That sounds about right for her — maybe not zoomers as a whole.
Millennial…
My son is a stereotypical millennial. Termed digital natives, they are ‘generation ME.’ They prefer experiences and instant gratification. In a study by Microsoft, 77% of this generation answered yes to this statement, “When nothing is occupying my attention, the first thing I do is reach for my phone.” 🙄
Boomer…
Then you have me — a Boomer. I’m actually a Boomer II but am still described as the generation with a strong and focused worth ethic.
That’s why I spent the weekend feeding people and cleaning up after them. Miss Zoomer was too busy on the Internet and Mr. Millennial only cared about food in his belly — and his phone. 😉
TIL (Today I Learned): The pre-game military fly-overs conducted while the Star Spangled Banner plays at pro sports events is actually a planned training run for flight teams and doesn’t cost “extra” as many speculate, but is already factored into the annual training budget.
And… the Bengals lost today. Perry is heartbroken. 🙁
After a pretty busy week, this weekend has been a lazy, ‘do-nothing’ one so far. Nothing much going on except some major couch time.
The only downfall to weekends is that I sometimes feel like a short order cook. By the look on Coco’s face, I must not be a very good one. 😉
Football and tacos tomorrow…
Tomorrow, Perry’s Bengals play and it’s doubtful he’ll even sleep tonight. I’ll be doing food prep (surprise, surprise!) and also clean-up. I don’t really care who wins between the 49ers and Eagles, but I do hope the Bengals win over the Chiefs. If San Francisco wins, it will be the 3rd time the Bengals have had them in the playoffs. (At least that’s what I think Mr. I Love My Bengals said.)
TIL (Today I Learned): Chile and Argentina have a greater percentage white population than that of Canada and the U.S.
My photography skills were about as low as they’ve ever been during this year’s Christmas gathering. The only image worth even sharing is this one… and it’s marginal. 🙂
But the night AFTER Christmas there are a few creatures stirring. This one, for example:
Colette got a record player and I learned that vinyl records are the hot thing again. It was like a blast from the past! I remember as a kid we had more than one — a cabinet type in the living room and a smaller one in the bedroom. As I got a little older, the one in the pool room played a whole lot of Waylon, Willie, Hank Jr., and Jessie Colter.
Coco loves Michael Jackson so we purchased a couple long-play vinyls (records in old person speak), and we threw in a Pink Floyd just because. But if I hear the song “Money” (official video on youtube) one more time within the next 10 years it will be one time too many. This new suitcase record player allows the speed to be changed. For the record, (pun intended) I can sing “Money” on every speed… no matter how fast or slow it’s played. 😏
Money Get back I’m alright, Jack, keep your hands off of my stack.
Here’s hoping you had a fabulous Christmas filled with family and just a little quiet time to recover. 🙂 And money.
TIL (Today I Learned): Per NPR, the Bald Eagle population has recovered. They are now fairly common birds to be seen in residential areas.
