working half days

May 5, 2013

There’s a joke (ha. ha.) around here where we are often told this, “You only have to work half days. And, I don’t care which 12 hours you choose.

Really funny. EXCEPT I’d be totally thrilled with that proposition right now. It ain’t easy when you’re working with fine folks in Australia (UTC/GMT +10 hours) at the same time as you’re working with wonderful connections in India (UTC/GMT +5:30 hours) — AND, you get Saturday requests from the good ole’ people right here in the US (UTC/GMT -5 hours), and are planning around a calendar in PST (UTC/GMT -7 hours). Even reading that makes my brain immediately turn to mush and all the words blur to only read, “blah blah blah.” There are days I would rather eat a lightbulb or take a stick in the eye than to wake up on Monday (which could be Sunday I think).

I’m not the only one workin’ overtime for sure! Mow one day…

And the very next day… dandelions are back with a vengeance!

go away, already

I guess it’s time to go back to the Mike Hall School of Grass Grooming. He says (and you can read it here), that if you set your deck at 4 or 4 1/2 inches and give it a season — the turf retains more moisture in the dry season, and weeds are naturally “choked” out. Proof of his philosophy is how awesome it always looks around his home, as well as at The Pines Restaurant.
