time capsule tuesday – miss kelly

Mar 15, 2011

In this week’s time capsule tuesday edition, our trip in the wayback machine isn’t quite so long, but I’m still willing to bet that many of my FB friends today might’ve been hitting ‘Miss Kelly’s’ place after school about that time. 🙂

Kelly Butler Schmelzle was a member of the 1982 graduating class of Crothersville High School. During her high school career, she was active in most sporting events and was a Tiger cheerleader all four years. She also excelled academically and was a member of many school clubs and organizations. After graduation, Kelly attended Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.

Kelly married Dale Schmelzle, also from Crothersville, in 1986. Dale was in the Navy and stationed at Virginia Beach, so the couple lived there during which time Kelly took a job in a day care facility. As soon as Dale had completed his service duty, the couple moved back to Crothersville.

Kelly worked in accounting for a short time and decided that she was missing out on what it was she loved to do most. It wasn’t long until she opened “Children’s Time Daycare” in Crothersville. Starting out in her home, located right across from the school in her grandmother’s home place, she never lacked for children that needed her expert care.

Kelly then found her numbers growing and decided to move to a new location. Children’s Time Daycare was next open for business on Main Street where it continues in operation today. Children’s Time Daycare progressed to also include pre-school about 10 years ago, and today, approximately 45 children show up at Miss Kelly’s either on a part-time, full-time or pre-school basis.

Kelly and Dale are parents of three daughters: Lea Ann, 15; Erin 13; and Jessica; 9. These girls are all active in sports and have already gotten geared up for summer activities. Attending the sporting events of three daughters keeps Kelly busy year round. She especially enjoys watching her girls participate and rarely misses an event. She and her family are members of the Crothersville United Methodist Church and enjoy camping with friends. Kelly loves to read when she has time.

Make sure you tell Miss Kelly that you saw her on crothersville.net the next time you see her out and about town running errands, or at the ball diamond cheering on her family member’s teams this summer.
