In order to be successful, you must constantly work on finding clarity and narrowing your focus. You must make a conscientious effort to see beyond the scope of your daily activities, and look at the big picture to decide what it really is that you want to accomplish. It isn’t easy to have the perspective to wisely make decisions about the big picture if you’re simply on autopilot and working 16-hour days before falling to sleep, only to repeat the process again tomorrow.
Having said that — there is great power in silence. You simply can’t envision your big picture when you have a gazillion things going on around you. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post — the technological world in which we live creates so many distractions that I spend most days just trying keep my head above water. Add a brown fat hound to the mix and I don’t care what the big picture is, much less do I know what it is.
I have found that in the evenings when I can find that quiet time to narrow my focus — I simply don’t want to. It is my plan to make changes in the immediate future to help bring clarity to my personal and professional life. I’ll keep you posted on the progress (or lack thereof) in upcoming posts.
