Will it ever end?

This whole wayback thing is getting old – even for me. But still, I couldn’t resist adding one last oldie-but-goodie photo. Taken on a glass-bottomed boat in Silver Springs at least 100 years ago (ok, maybe not that long…but close), I’m the only one in my family not facing the camera. Look to the right near the center and you’ll see a handsome older guy with a crewcut and a neck tie — my Grandfather. He passed away in 1982. Going farther right, that’s the back of my head, and to the right of me is my Grandmother. The chick in the retro glasses and headscarf is my Mom (Mom always wore a headscarf — what’s up with that??), then my brother, Scott, and Dad is the dude wearing a big, dark set of eyebrows.

I’ve been to Florida who knows how many times since then, but I’ve passed the glass-bottomed boat experience since this shot was taken. I don’t remember if I ever went to Disney World as a kid. I’ve been there plenty of times since adulthood and LOVE riding the rides and such. Still, the memory of the glass-bottomed boat, along with Wikki-Wachee (where a REAL mermaid ate a banana under water!!) are two of my most vivid family vacation memories. The other was from a trip out west where I met an honest to goodness ‘injun named ‘Salem’ who smoked Winston cigarettes.
