Today is a special day for someone very dear to me – my mother, Donna Thies, is celebrating her birthday!
Mom has always been there for us, my sister and myself, and has managed to give us whatever we needed – even when money was tight, mom found a way.
What do you give someone who selflessly provides for you but asks nothing in return? Well – you can start by giving them your thanks, admiration, and the love that they deserve. Mom has given it without question or condition, doesn’t she deserve the same?
So for you mom, I wish you a very Happy Birthday, and want to let you know how special you are to me – I love you.
Thank you for everything!

I could go on and on in this post about the pathetic customer service that Verizon provides to its customers, but I’ll spare you the details. If you’ve ever had to call them about a problem, or if you’re a business receiving 1 call every day from Phoneware (hired by Verizon to push new offers you don’t want or need), then you have stories of your own. You don’t need mine.
You know how they say a picture is worth 1,000 words? Well… here’s 1K worth:

Yup – same as it was the day of the windstorm in early September even though I’ve called a bajillion times. And I spent 52 minutes of my AT&T cell phone minutes with Verizon today trying to figure out why my DSL won’t work. It probably would’ve been a bit quicker if my call wasn’t routed to India where both the employee and I had trouble communicating. But here is the good news! I’ve been elevated to level #4 status and was provided a new tech support phone number. The Verizon employee told me, “With this number, you won’t get routed to India, but will speak with American representatives.” Wouldn’t you think we all deserve that?

The internet is a wonderful thing isn’t it? Unless you’re like us and dealing with intermittent connectivity.
Ever since the remnants of Ike blew through here in September, we’ve had nothing but major problems on the internet front. We can run awesome for a while, then lose all signal with little to no warning.
We have tried contacting two different companies about connection – and have gotten nowhere with both. Our current provider has said they figured out the problem and will be repairing it on Wednesday night, which will knock us out totally until they are finished, but it does leave us with the hope that finally we will be on and STAY on.
Isn’t the internet world a fabulous place to live in?
