In yesterday’s post, I added a photo of my favorite brother in the whole world. Yes, it was in black and white. I’ve gotten a couple messages today asking why I didn’t choose to post a color photo instead. I always aim to please — so here is one for your viewing pleasure.
Still, I love black and white photography and it is absolutely increasing in popularity. It’s “hip”.
Photos in black and white do not have to attract the viewer with a play of color. Instead, composition, lighting, perspective and the context of the shot is what is most important. They are clean and crisp, heighten the emotional connection and accentuate the depth of field.
Photos that are not saturated with color are timeless and elegant — but yet contemporary. Now how else can you combine those three things?
Black and white photos are back in vogue! But evidently so are the glasses that look exactly like those my Grandfather wore a long, long time ago.
