Printer review by someone with experience

Mar 22, 2009

I’ve never been a fan of “home-printed” photos. It’s simply too easy to order photos via iPhoto through Apple at a very reasonable price. Still, there are times that it’s pretty cool to be able to print a quickie to share.

I also like my invoices and letters to be crisp and vivid. I am one of those morons that pay extra for the brightest white paper on the market.

I purchased an OKIdata color laser a few years back and was very pleased with it, except it was a pain to print envelopes and the toner had to be purchased online. Honestly, even photos printed pretty darned good. Still, the whole envelope thing was a pain.

I drive to Staples in Seymour and the guy who waited on me explained enthusiastically that the BEST printer on the market for my needs was an Epson Photo printer. Yes, it was about the same cost as a new color laser, but hey — it was a PHOTO printer that would also print the most fabulous looking letters on the planet! Folks, take my word for it… the Epson Stylus Photo printer that I brought home that day is the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever owned.

I’m back to the OKIdata laser and will be purchasing one of the newer models soon.
