the tooth fairy

Apr 16, 2009

I’ve not posted as often as normal — I’ve simply not been on my game. It all started last week with a tooth that suddenly became extremely sensitive, and then progressed to the point (over the weekend of course) that I was eating pain pills like candy. I called my dentist to make an appointment first thing on Monday morning and was worked into his busy schedule the following day.

My chart told the story — my dentist, Max Middendorf, had placed a big question mark over this tooth on my chart in 1981. At the time he did the filling, he wasn’t sure if it was salvageable. Holy cow! That was 28 years ago!! Needless to say, the prognosis was grim.

The tooth fairy was a no show, but get this — I got a call later that afternoon from the dentist! He wanted to know how I was doing. How cool is that? It wasn’t the receptionist that called — he called personally, which of course made me feel pretty special. And isn’t that what it’s all about? The little things we do in business that make customers/clients feel that they are more than a transaction is what will keep them coming back — even in a challenging economy.
