a deserted island

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could bring only 5 things, what would you bring?

Before you start complaining, remember, I didn’t say 2 or 3 — I let you bring 5 freaking things.
Shelley’s 5 island gotta have items:

1. I really want to say my iPhone because I am totally in love with it and could spend hours playing with the apps even if no one wanted to talk to me. I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t be electricity for a recharge, so my #1 item would be a deck of cards. I could gamble against myself and win — sure to keep up my positive mental attitude.

2. I want to next say my computer, but again remember the whole electricity thing, so I’m going to take a knife. I figure that I can massacre head hunters, whittle sticks into fishhooks and stab wild pigs for food. Yes, I watch Lost. John Locke would be very disappointed in me if I chose otherwise (he’s probably pissed because I picked a deck of cards first).

3. Coffee. Yes, seriously. And I can use the Starbucks bag to catch rainwater.

4. Boat. I figure a boat might come in handy if I ever want to attempt to get back to civilization. Besides that, boats are awesome. I hope it has plenty of gas, and oars on board in case the tank gets empty from me using it to make fires to brew my coffee.

5. Libby. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to ever love her as much as me.

Libby rocks!

Other things I considered: Ben, my favorite brother, Perry, Alisa, Sherry, Jerilyn, toilet paper, flares, my pillow, a tent, sleeping bag and a flashlight.

What about you?

disappointed in nancy again

I love Nancy Grace. I ran right out and bought her book, was less than thrilled with it, and even blogged about it. Still, I’m a Nancy Grace fan. Die hard. However, I’m disappointed in her again. Maybe not so much disappointment in Nancy, but in CNN’s online offerings.

nancy screenshotSo here’s the deal — I go to cnn.com, then to crime, and then to Nancy Grace. So if you look on the right side of the page, you see, “Click here for breaking news updates, story updates, extended case coverage & much more!’ — just like the screenshot to the left. So I click it. It takes you here (go ahead and click — that’s the final destination and the source of my disappointment).

First, check out address where you’re directed:

Find Caylee Blog?? Nooooooo. Why not? Well, because the latest entry is about Michael Jackson AND it was made on August 21, 2009. That’s breaking news? That’s the best CNN can do? Blah!

Goodnight, friends…

getting nervous

Carpet is scheduled for the remodeling project on Tuesday. The house is full of stuff — every single room has something in it that must be moved out. There are paint touch-ups to do and we have to pick up a small can of one of those paint colors before that can be finished. Everyone is still sleeping at almost 1:00 PM except for me, and although tomorrow is a holiday, I have to work. Perry has to work — he has appointments. I’m getting nervous and I’m tired of being a job foreman. If I didn’t want this project completed yesterday, I would call first thing tomorrow morning and reschedule the job.
