wishing it away

Jan 6, 2010

I remember growing up, Scott’s mother (heh) used to tell us not to “wish our life away”. This normally came directly after we were told we couldn’t go someplace because she felt we were too young, or when we wanted our driver’s license when we were 14, or when we complained about school and expressed our desire to graduate when we were barely in the 8th grade. This morning as I watched the predicted snow start to fall, the evil Shelley subconscious whispered, “I wish it was summer!” That’s when the good (almost angelic) Shelley subconscious reminded me that I shouldn’t wish my life away.

One of the really awesome and incredible things about life is that we get a brand new day every morning that we wake up. No matter how bad yesterday might have been, there’s a “do over” opportunity the very next time we roll out of the rack.
