the middle of crazy

Back to work 100% after the holiday season and I’m stuck right smack dab in the middle of crazy. Now crazy can mean several things yanno. I’m not talking about the brain-sick psycho that posts cryptic messages that no one understands or cares to understand — or even the person so possessed with enthusiasm they are crazy with excitement. I’m talking crazy, busy, nuts — as coined by speaker, Victoria Labalme. And to be honest, I’m LOVING it!

Busy forces encourages me to get better organized! I grew up in a household of envelopes. Mom would make envelopes for every monthly expense, and then each week she would put money into those envelopes. The one I remember most vividly was named “barn”. Each week, $10 bucks went into that envelope for horse feed, hay, etc. That one was pretty important because it made it possible for me to entertain friends while wearing sexy white knee-socks.

Although I like to blame my lack of organizational skills on my artistic personality, and the fact that I focus on the big picture rather than trivial details — I really think I am STILL rebelling against those damned envelopes. So as I struggle through this first week back to work after a wonderfully long holiday, I am reminded of the fact that coffee is the second most traded commodity on earth. Oil is obviously overrated. Happy New Year y’all!

messed up

When someone can talk on their Blackberry while waiting in line to pay for groceries with food stamps, something is skewed. When the same family has a child who has a Blackberry and data plan too — it’s plain old messed up.
