I’ve always heard that dogs eat grass for one of two reasons. (a) They are missing something in their diet, or (b) they have an upset stomach and grass makes them vomit. Both of my hounds are grazers, but neither one of them throw up, so I deduce they are missing some powerful vitamin. I do a Google search to figure out what they need more of in their diet because Google knows everything.
I’m always amazed at some of the stuff people type in search boxes — the top search strings are of course pre-filled in by Google for you. How awesome that my dogs are only eating grass. Yikes!
So I find out that both of the reasons I thought were true aren’t necessarily factual. Some dogs eat grass because they like it. My dogs don’t eat underwear, dirt, rocks cat poop or their puppies. They can; however, be encouraged to eat some things right off the grill, so long as we don’t say ‘hotdog‘ out loud.
