The forecast for the Ville is outstanding this week! Matter of fact, yesterday was about as perfect as it gets for my preference in weather conditions, and it’s only going to get better! At least until the weekend.
My favorite brother on the planet has explained that sometimes he goes to Starbucks “to get some work done“, and has boasted that he can creatively write while traveling — sitting by the pool at some resort. I humor him and say, “that’s fabulous” or something similar — all the while doubting his truthfulness. But about 2:00 PM EST yesterday, Perry and I took the laptops outside and finished our day under the umbrella on the back deck, and we were actually productive. Imagine that!
In the glass? Juicy Juice! No alcohol…I promise. I did have a client encourage me to make it a Margarita, and while I did consider it, I figured that having an alcoholic beverage during work hours would probably not be in the best interest of our clients.
Wrapping it up around 6:00 PM EST or so, I realized that I didn’t FEEL like I’d spent the day ‘working’, even though I got just as much accomplished as I would’ve sitting in the darkened office — and I didn’t FEEL that burnout that creeps in no matter how much you love your job but spend way too much time doing it. It’s not likely that I’ll ever graduate to the mindset that I can do work at Starbucks, but I am moving my laptop to the back deck again this afternoon. I guess my brother wasn’t lying after all…
