good couple of days to live in Indiana

Oct 28, 2012

I’ve been reading about hurricane Sandy today… worried about people I know and even those I don’t that are in the path of this epic storm. Forecasters are predicting it will be epic for several reasons — the first of which is because Sandy is supposed to merge with a wintery system. The Eastern Seaboard could be in for some serious trouble, you guys. Cold air from Canada is predicted to get thrown into the mix. (Weather.com states, “Officials are bracing for the worst: nearly a foot of rain, high winds and up to 2 feet of snow in the highest parts of the Appalachian Mountains from West Virginia to North Carolina.”) There’s a strong possibility for dangerous storm surges (and werewolves) because of the full moon. And finally, with the snow and wind combination, power could be out for literally a bajillion people.

Tornados suck — that’s for sure. The warning time is so short, and there’s no time for evacuation and little time to get prepared (especially if you live in a home without a basement like me). But today watching all those people who are going to ‘ride it out’ got me thinking. Would I leave?

I think I would! I’m pretty sure I’d board ‘er up, throw necessities in the vehicle (family, dogs and a laptop) and head out. I worry about where I could go with 2 big dogs but would NEVER leave them behind. Yah, I’d leave.

What would you do?

And along with those necessities I named, you’d also find this packed as well…
