I’ve been reading the BLOG written by John McAfee. As a preface in case you’re not up to speed — John McAfee is an American computer programmer and founder of McAfee (sold to Intel in 2010) — he is one of the first people to design anti-virus software and to develop a virus scanner. Now, he’s on the run in Belize accused of murder… or maybe just wanted for questioning (a person of interest) in the murder of his neighbor. This varies day by day and according to the news source where you choose to get your information.
His blog, The Hinterland, reads like a soap opera. There’s sex and drugs and corruption and guns and lots and lots of money… set in a tropical third world country. My feelings when reading his eloquent words run the gamut from believing him 100% and fearing for his safety, to wondering if this is nothing more than a set-up for book sales. I tend to think the truth lies somewhere in the middle with a constant moving needle — but what do I know? I don’t think he’s crazy… and I do think he is intelligent beyond description. When the first post was tagged with the keywords “bath salts” for search indexing, I admit I became a bit skeptical. But it’s not just a story — a man IS dead, John McAfee IS on the run, and his friends/employees ARE in prison.
I’d love to hear what you think — that is IF you have time to read everything. Be warned! There’s a ton of info and you simply can’t start with one or two of the latest entries, you guys. You have to start at the beginning, and just like when you read a book, you can’t skip to the end. That’s like cheating. The comments are insightful as well, so you probably shouldn’t miss those either.
