Working a real job while working on a remodel job is tough on an old girl. Not complaining… I’m thrilled to be able to do it, and I’m sleeping like a rock all night long every night. But I’m not too proud to admit that it’s pretty much wearing me out. I wish I had a $1 for every time I climbed off a paint ladder today to answer my work phone. So I had to share the one thing that really perked me up. FOOD! It was prepared by my sneaky buddy, Alisa, and was appreciated more than she probably realizes.
Funeral home… work… paint… email responses… paint… family visitors… REAL LIVE MASHED POTATOES, MINI-MEATLOAVES, and enough HOME MADE MACARONI AND CHEESE left to even eat this weekend. A sure sign that food is amazing is an empty plate.
Alisa has shown up with food other times previously — always when something is going on and a real cooked meal is a huge help. But she doesn’t tell you she’s doing it. She just does it and shows up. Sneaky!! (And awesome all at the same time.) She can cook AND has a husband who is handy. What’s fair about that? After Ric checked the central vac, the patio enclosure’s roof, the breaker box, the fence, the windows and made recommendations on how to save on heating/cooling bills, he let me know that while Alisa and I yacked he could’ve had 3 rooms painted. Seriously? Next time they visit I’m meeting him at the door with a paint brush.
