Katie mentioned on more than one occasion that she wanted to bake cookies. I held firm and explained that I’m NOT a ‘baker’ type person. I even went so far as to tell her I didn’t own a mixer. She kept insisting and was determined that WE WERE GOING TO BAKE COOKIES.
“It will be fun,” she said.
No mixer? No problem! Katie said she would do it the “easy” way that would eliminate the need for a mixer. I watched as she put 2 sticks of butter into a bowl and as she then cracked 2 eggs and put those in the bowl too. That’s when she told me that she planned to use the microwave to melt the butter so she could stir the mixture with a spoon.
Now I’m not Betty Crocker, but I do know what happens to eggs in the microwave — butter or no butter. Defeated, I told her where to find the mixer — and yes, those ARE safety goggles.
