Going back to 2002 for this week’s Time Capsule Tuesday — in honor of Veteran’s Day tomorrow.
On Monday, November 11, 2002, the town of Crothersville paid honor to the men and women who serve our country in the fight for freedom. In times of peace, we sometimes forget those who have given so much. We are in a time that now causes us to realize just how much our Veterans mean to us, and what it truly is they stand for.
Many were in attendance to witness this ceremony presented by the local VFW Chapter 1083. It is very gratifying to our local VFW members to see the locals show their support and appreciation. Pictured to the left is Alisa Sweazy and son, Patrick.
The Ladies Auxiliary present at the Veteran’s Day ceremony were out in numbers to participate in the program. Kayla Bowling sang Amazing Grace and The Star Spangled Banner. County Veterans Administration Officer, Mike Fink is shown with Rudolph Hamblin, who were speakers for the Veteran’s Day ceremony. Also pictured below are Veterans participating in the weapon firing salute to honor their fallen comrades.
Liz Otte is shown speaking with Crothersville Veterans before playing Taps. Liz has become a regular for this event, participating for the past several years.
