Have you ever bumped your head then forgot about it until you ran a brush through your hair and felt pain? I have — and that’s what I assumed was going on last weekend when it hurt to brush my hair. And… my throat was a little sore, too. I figured I bumped my head and was catching a cold. Oh well.
Last night, my neck hurt — on both sides — right at the bottom of my cranium. I thought… I bumped my head, was catching a cold, AND had either strained my neck doing something or from sitting at the computer too long. This morning, that “head bump” was a nasty rash. It seriously felt like every time a hair moved someone was stabbing me with an ice pick.
I consulted Dr. Google and we diagnosed me. For those of you playing along at home… what do you think (besides old age) could be wrong? I went to urgent care and this was my view for about an hour and a half.
Now confirmed… I have… you guess it! (drum roll please!)
SHINGLES.
If that diagnosis wouldn’t make you feel old, I’m not sure what would exactly. I’ve taken 7 of my 9 pills today so far and can promise you that no matter the cost (I’ve been told it’s $400 out of pocket) for the shingles vaccine — I’m getting one the second I get the go ahead from the doctor.
Shingles are no joke, you guys.
