what age is considered “old” anyway?

Funny how our perception of “old” changes as WE get older. Finding the photo of a birthday cake I had made that states, “Carl is old!” when he turned 59 certainly helped reinforce that fact.

Various countries and societies consider the onset of old age as anywhere from the mid-40s to the 70s. Read that again… the ONSET of old age.

According to Wikipedia, one notable study created sub-groupings and distinguishes them as follows: young-old (65 to 74), middle-old (75–84), and oldest-old (85+). I’m going with that one for now! That means I’m not old yet… but Carl is.
