Talking tech – iPhone 11 Pro Max and Google Fi

Oct 17, 2019

I’m in LOVE with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. It’s a HUGE step-up from my iPhone 8 Plus. I wondered if I would regret my decision to hold out for the iPhone when Ben and Perry each got a new Note 10 Plus, but am SO GLAD I did.

The triple 12MP ultra wide, wide, and telephoto cameras with night mode turn out some amazing shots. I’ve yet to play around enough to figure out how to turn the night mode OFF. Trying to take a photo of the fireplace in a dark room, the end result looked like it was daylight. I’ll work on that.

Another thing that’s pretty awesome is the eSIM option. Basically, you can have 2 different carriers on the same phone. (Although the XS and XR had it, I waited and did the 8 to 11 upgrade — and I’m not sure what other phones offer eSIMs.)

But that leads me to Google Fi. Pulling service from 3 carriers that switch as you enter/leave ‘best’ reception areas, it’s a great option for a 2nd carrier or even as a stand-alone service provider.

For one person, (like ME) it’s $20/m for unlimited calls and texts. Data is $10 per Gig (I’ll turn off data and use it from the other plan). Any data used over 6G is free. There are unlimited plans too that are still inexpensive options when compared to other carriers. Just thought y’all might want to check it out!
