it would’ve been easier with a 2 year-old

May 8, 2020

Because I didn’t want to be the only person on the planet with the same old paint I had on the walls BEFORE the pandemic, I decided to attack a room with a paint brush. I chose the small hall bath. I’ve only been quarantined with dogs for 63 days now. No need to rush.

burnt orange bathroom

The ONLY reason the walls were burnt orange is because I wanted to match that stupid shower curtain. I promise it looks better in person… even after 15+ years. Yes, 15+ years!! I bought that expensive brown thing when it was in style. 🙂

Months ago, I took my trusty Tommy Bahama coupon and decided to brighten things up a bit in there. Yesterday, I pulled that new shower curtain out of the closet… along with an old gallon of paint I figured would match… and went to work.

Two and a half hours later and I have a new bathroom AND a black dog with a white mustache as a bonus!

If you’ve ever painted while taking care of an unruly 2 year-old, you know my pain. Oh… and my hands will likely smell like bleach for at least a week. And I just realized, I change paint colors in every room about every 2 years. Do you guys paint that often?? I guess I just don’t know what I like… or I’m fickle. Or maybe both.

My great aunt Lois (who purchased this house with my great uncle Ted — both are deceased), was in love with orange. She’s no doubt unhappy with my color choice. If doors close by themselves or dishes fly out of cabinets over the next several days, I’ll be sure to let y’all know.

I think corona gray is a great color and the project was an improvement. I’m already thinking what I’ll tackle next! (Sorry, Lois, no more orange — or brown.)

TIL (today I learned): The Mafia helped establish the Gay Bar scene in New York. Fat Tony purchased the Stonewall Inn in 1966 and transformed it into a bar and restaurant. He later bribed the New York Police Department around $1,200 a week to ignore ‘indecent conduct’ occurring behind closed doors. Read the article here…

One more thing… yesterday, Indiana had 675 new cases of COVID-19. Nevada had 43.
