wide awake with dogs

Nov 24, 2020

Barely 7:00 AM and I’m on my second cup of coffee this morning. Just a bit over 3 hours sleep. I’m not even sure why I woke so early but I simply couldn’t fall back asleep. You ever do that?

Sitting here with dogs sleeping at my feet, I’m thinking about the upcoming holiday. We have the craziest plans ever this year. My granddaughter will be spending Thanksgiving Day with her Mom, so we’re doing the first T-Day round tomorrow. She wants shrimp fettuccini alfredo, and that’s exactly what she’ll get. But it’s not something you can eat the following day.

That means I’ll also do a more traditional meal for Thanksgiving. After reading an earlier post, Alisa provided some written recipes (simple ones she thought I might be able to handle) and I’m going to give at least one of them a whirl. Thanksgiving won’t look like this in 2020…

And then, Perry promised to help me do some Christmas lights outside. A few of the neighbors are already lit up. At least Merida can’t get to the front yard decorations –unlike the tree that’s deteriorating fast as more ornaments bite the dust.

Although the peskies will be home, they’ve already let me know they plan to hunker down as not to risk COVID exposure. Perry will eat and Ben will likely get a meal to take home. Although it’s sad we don’t get to spend time as a family, I’m still so very grateful my family is healthy.

How severe the pandemic is in the places where people I care about are located…
Daily new COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average):
Indiana-93.0 (down a bit); Jackson Co – 97.2 (up lots); Florida 35.4 (up); Nevada – 51.2 (down)

TIL (Today I Learned): A bit of good news of interest insofar as COVID you might find interesting — a new study by St. Jude identifies a potential treatment strategy using combination of existing drugs.
