today I lost my title – I’m no longer the covid chef

Dec 17, 2020

I mentioned I bought Perry a Blackstone Griddle for Christmas. You remember? It’s the present he opened early after hounding me every day like a 5 year-old.

Burgers were his first cooking attempt on the pre-Christmas gift. Not gonna’ lie — they were pretty awful. So dry and crusty they made me wonder if that’s what SpongeBob’s crabby patties are like. I didn’t post a photo because they not only weren’t that taste bud appealing, they weren’t aesthetically pleasing either. (Sorry, Perry.)

He went another round with the Blackstone tonight and this meal was a HOME RUN!

I cut up the chicken and veggies and cooked the rice before it went on the griddle. I also seasoned the rice with soy and fish sauce and a little sesame oil. Good ole’ Perry did everything else. BAM! (Except clean up the mess.) 🙄

I sent the photo above to Ben and Colette and within 5 minutes they were ringing the doorbell with ‘to-go’ containers in hand. It was an amazing dish — so good in fact that I’m not even frustrated at him anymore for begging to have it early.

What’s next Chef Pear?

How severe the pandemic is in the places where people I care about are located…
Daily NEW COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average):
Indiana-89.3 (down); Jackson Co – 108.8 (way down but still high) — 7.54% infected (up); Florida 44.6 (down); Nevada – 81.3 (down)

Promising that although the infected percentage is still rising in Jackson County, the daily NEW cases is down a good bit.

TIL (today I learned): The Three Stooges performed at the very first Super Bowl Halftime Show. During their performance, Larry Fine spotted a football player hitting on his wife. He flipped him the bird and for this he got in trouble with CBS and had to pay a fine of $42.50.
