Short thought on the current political challenge. I said in an earlier post I thought Pence should invoke the 25th but I might change my mind. Now, I know I was wrong and I’VE CHANGED MY MIND!
There are 2 main reasons why I no longer hold the opinion that Trump should be removed from office:
1. The letter Pence sent to Pelosi is a strong argument.
I doubt my friend and Pence’s college roommate, Dan, had anything to do with writing this. If Pence didn’t pen it himself, kudos to the author. It was created in a perfect tone — firm yet kind — and the content is excellent. I’ve never been a huge Mike fan, but right this second I guess I am. Every point made is explained in detail and I agree with them all.
2. I watched the House vote last night on the resolution calling to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump.
Other than one straggler, Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, the House of Representatives vote was split down party lines. That tells me it’s more of the same ole’ crap on a different day. While victory is being proudly proclaimed, the symbolic rebuke didn’t convince me that this is anything more than exactly what it looks like — yet another costly political time sink.
I still think Trump overstepped on the Georgia call regarding ballots, and on the speech before the march to the Capitol. I think he overstepped when he called out Pence a bajillion times and wonder if that might’ve even endangered the VP. I think Trump’s use of the word, “incredible” and the phrase, “like we’ve never seen before” is overused so often it should be criminal. And finally, I think his Tweets were un-Presidential, boisterous, and often rude. Sadly, I miss them… Twitter isn’t the same. 🙂
Now all I need to do is convince my tribe to agree with all of the above. As it currently stands, Merida thinks I’m crazy, Dharma is open to debating the issue, and the only thing Perry cares about is agreeing with the majority. None of us like Mitch McConnell and all think he’s a dirt bag.
