side hustles are STRONGER than Oleksii Novikov

Feb 5, 2021

Oleksii Novikov won the 2020 World’s Strongest Man competition. He’s got nothin’ for today’s side hustlers though — they’re out-performing even the highest of expectations.

It seems like everyone has a side-hustle! If it’s not skin care items, it’s weight-loss goods. If it’s not jewelry, it’s cookware. If it’s not vitamins, it’s… it’s… a franchise? While make-up and fat gummies are pushed on Facebook, individuals and companies harvest LinkedIn profiles for business type ventures.

How lucky that I’ve been notified (over and over again) of franchise expansion plans in Indiana. Because I’m a “select business leader” (HA!), they want to talk to me! They are certain I should own the next Mrs. Fields cookies franchise to capitalize on multiple revenue stream possibilities. How about THAT for a side hustle?

I think rather than buy a franchise, I’m going to go into the food ordering business. Because of the pandemic and the safety of limited exposure to people, the only time I see the peskies is when they pick up groceries.

TIL (Today I Learned): As the press constantly tried to pit Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe against each other, Elizabeth reached out to Marilyn. She privately told her, “No matter what they write about me, Marilyn, I never deny it. I never confirm it. I just keep smiling and walking forward. You do the same.

Isn’t that good advice for all of us? The press is not likely spreading rumors about anyone reading my thoughts, but I’ll bet you have someone that enjoys gossiping about you. Try to confront a troll and you’ll only be wasting your time — they won’t believe what you say and they just want to get a rise from you anyway. It’s best just to smile and move on.
