I’m sure y’all are sick of me talking about COVID… maybe you tuned out a long time ago. What’s currently on my mind is more about attitude than anything else.
Here’s where I’m coming from… From what I’ve read, COVID symptoms (if you have them) are present between 5 and 10 days on average from exposure. My favorite cousin, now sick with COVID, posted on Facebook 5-days before symptoms.
She shared, “3 years from now, some of you will look back & admit that you spent an entire year of your life wearing a mask, cooped up in your house & avoiding all the people you love. A year in your life that you’ll never get back.” 😭
I hope she doesn’t have lasing/chronic effects — some do… the fortunate don’t. I agree that we’re all going to go when it’s our time — that’s my belief. Still, this girl isn’t going to jump out of a plane without a parachute.
More importantly, I’ve NOT wasted a year of my life. Sure, things are different and I want them to go back to normal just like everyone else. But I used the time in the summer to do work outside that I wouldn’t have had time to do if business was “normal.” Once it got cooler, I painted rooms and the fireplace. I’ve read books. I’ve been cooking more and Perry’s even mastered a few more things on the grill/griddle. Breakfast looks like this instead of a piece of toast:
I miss time spent with friends and going out to eat, etc. But it’s temporary — and so is life. We simply have to make the best of every situation and move on.
I also need to move on from my complaints over my new Fitbit — you know, the one I talked about earlier that doesn’t work right. Check this out — if one mile is around 2,000 steps, Fitbit reports I’m covering about 16 miles a day on average. My brother needs to pick up the pace because I’m smokin’ him big time! 🙂
If my piece of crap Fitbit can find a silver lining — certainly we can too. More positivity and less whining would be a great place to start.
