inside grilling in my Ninja Foodi

Jun 1, 2021

I have a glass cooktop stove and I hate it. Every single time I use it, I have to polish (Weiman is the best) afterward. Smears make me crazy. Because it’s a pain to clean — and because the Peskies love their indoor grill — we picked up a Ninja Foodi XL. I’m still in trial and error mode.

So far, I’ve only used the grill option. It will also air crisp, bake, roast, broil and dehydrate — at least it’s supposed to. I’ve used an air fryer before so I’m sure I can manage that, but I tried pork cutlets and I now know I prefer them fried. Next time, I’ll batter and fry them and smile when I clean the cooktop.

Burgers are really good as are hot dogs — but not as good as when they’re prepared on the Blackstone outside. The best thing I’ve made so far are these tater things that have no name:

tater packs

Potatoes chunked, green and red peppers, onions, bacon, and smoked sausage in a foil pack with canola oil grilled on high for 22 minutes. When making them I don’t even have to clean the grill when finished! I call that a win!

When Perry got the Blackstone, he watched a bajillion youtube.com videos. I watched about 15-seconds of one so I guess it’s time to do a little recipe research. If I run across anything else amazing, I’ll let you know.

TIL (Today I Learned): In WWII, the Soviets trained dogs to run under German tanks with bombs strapped to them. But in the field, the dogs ran back under the Soviet tanks because their diesel fuel was the scent the dogs had been trained on.
