I read an AP article this morning that said the US is expected to peak insofar as new cases yet this week, meaning new infections should start to rapidly decline. This expert said that could signal an end to the pandemic… or a new variant could emerge since not all the world is on the same timeline. No matter, meetings are not going to be normal until spring even if everyone gets better today.
With extra time during the coldest months in Indiana, rather than complain of nothing to do and be depressed, I modified the site design of WiiD and picked up an old camera. Over the coming weeks, I plan to play around with it some. For the record, I’d love to have some snow so I could take a few “winter shots,” but Alexa says that’s not in the forecast for at least the next 10-days. 🙁
The photo above is straight out of the camera (other than resized for web), and was taken inside in low light at night. The camera is an old DSLR — an EOS Canon 60D. I purchased some really great Canon lenses over the years and those stay good no matter how outdated the camera is. My 60D is 18 megapixel — the iPhone 11 Pro Max is 12 megapixel. The iPhone is convenient and weighs next to nothing — the 60D is heavy and bulky.
The difference in photo quality is vast — just as vast as their convenience to use. It’s easy to see the difference in quality in the two photos below. (Neither were edited other than resized for web.)
Neither photo is totally awful… I mean, you can certainly see without issue that Perry is getting balder by the minute. And all the photos I’ve shared here that were taken by the iPhone were light corrected before posting — so not as bad as they would be otherwise.
I’m still not a fan of any camera’s harsh flash — and before taking night photos worth keeping I need to pull out other lighting tools and I can’t remember where I put them. Merida doesn’t like this camera in her face any better than she does when I take her picture with my phone.
In closing, YES! COVID-19 sucks. Even if you try to go about life as normal… and even if your job is relatively the same… and even if you’re not sick… it still sucks. Life is just different right now and there’s not one thing we can do to change it.
We can only choose how we react to the changes.
TIL (Today I Learned): Burt Reynolds took revenge from National Enquirer who wrote crap about him for years by dumping a helicopter full of horse shit on their Florida headquarters.
