If you’ve visited here for any length of time, you know I love to watch trials. From the courtroom drama through to the verdict, I’m riveted. Casey Anthony, Jodi Arias, George Zimmerman, missing Haleigh Cummings — I kept up with all those cases and more over the past several years. And now, I’m engaged by the Johnny Depp defamation suit.
Basically, the suit is because Depp’s ex-wife, Amber Heard, wrote in 2019 that she had become “a public figure representing domestic abuse”. Depp says the accusations are false (says he’s never hit her or sexually abused her) and her claims have been harmful to his family and his career.
What I’ve learned by trial day #8.
Watching this trial, I’m reminded that no matter who you are… no matter who you’ve had a conversation with or about what… you should be mindful about what you type. It’s there forever. The whole audio/video recording of confrontations is not really something you can control, I guess. Private isn’t really private anymore.
I’ve also been reminded that having money to burn and great places to live and visit doesn’t make a person happy. I’ll take my simple life without my own island in the Bahamas. And if that’s not enough…
I have great dogs. Here’s one of them…
TIL (Today I Learned): In 2006, William Shatner sold a kidney stone for $25,000 to an online casino. Shatner then donated all the proceeds to charity.
