Another scorching hot day… another heat advisory. The house appraisal is scheduled for Tuesday and because rain is in the forecast, it was mow today or not get it done.
As soon as the dew cleared, Perry and I mowed.
Actually, I mowed everything (including push mowing the back yard) and he weed eated everything. I looked at him as we met in the side yard — me heading to the front and him heading to the back. His face was BRIGHT RED but I figured mine was too so I said nothing. I finished first by maybe 5-minutes, but by the time he came around to the sunroom, I could tell he felt rough.
His symptoms sounded like a heart attack to me… probably because that’s what runs in my family and because he smokes and is under a ton of stress right now with work. But my final diagnosis was that he simply got too hot. He hadn’t eaten anything and the “feels like” temp when we started was over 100 degrees.
Evening brought thunderstorms but not a lot of cool air behind them.
Sitting in the sunroom, the thunder is crazy loud and Perry’s fine now. Certainly a lesson to be careful with the heat. I think it scared him enough that I’ll likely be mowing myself for the rest of the summer. 🙂
TIL (Today I Learned): Frank Goldsmith, a survivor of the RMS Titanic disaster, ended up living near a baseball stadium in Detroit. He hated game days, because the sound of the cheering crowd reminded him of the screaming people in the water during the sinking.
