This new place has heating and cooling mechanisms that I’ve never had in any home I’ve lived in before. It has mini-split units both upstairs and downstairs and two outside units that control them. And it has an outside wood furnace and radiant heat in the floors.
We’ve been “waiting on a part” for the upstairs outside unit since before we even moved in. 🙄
We were hot when it was hot outside — and now we’re cold because it’s cold outside (42° right now). Part of my challenge is going from gas heat back to the “heat pump” style of warmth — but it’s not the only problem.
Once the closing is over, I’ll have my electrician and heating/air guy scheduled ASAP. In the meantime, I’ll wear another sweatshirt and sit by the fire.
It’s one thing I never have to do alone.
TIL (Today I Learned): In November 1942, a plane made a forced landing on a Greenland ice cap. Six more planes either also stranded or crashed attempting a rescue. It took survivors 5 and a half months of sheltering on the glacier until they were all rescued. (And they didn’t even have a solo stove/fire pit!)
