So Biden made a deal to trade for Brittney Griner. We all know who she is, who Biden traded to Russia to get her back, and that Paul Whelan was left there to serve his sentence. So many people posting their opinions on social media and no way I’ll go there.
But before you jump on any bandwagon… know the facts.
- Brittney Griner — she called on the WNBA to stop playing the National Anthem during their season. She added she would walk off the court if the Star-Spangled Banner was played. She is the prisoner swap choice.
- Paul Whelan — who was also convicted in Russian court — is being depicted as a hero by many that feel he was more deserving of a trade than Griner. What no one is talking about is that he was dishonorably discharged from the Marines. He stole his fellow Marines’ SSNs to open fake credit cards and was convicted of larceny and theft. He is a citizen of 4 countries and stole his brother’s passport to get onto Russia. He’s not coming home.
- Viktor Bout — this is the dude traded to Russia for Griner. He’s known as “The Merchant of Death” and was convicted for conspiring to sell tens of millions of dollars in weapons to be used against Americans, according to US officials. His scheme was to sell weapons to a designated foreign terrorist group.
This reminds me of a time when Ben was still in high school. I bought him an expensive guitar and found out a couple months later that he’d traded it to a friend for one he thought he wanted more. Difference is… he was maybe 15 years-old and there were consequences for his foolishness.
