I let the hounds out before I went to bed around 2:00 AM. There’s no freaking way they were simply dying to pee by 6:30 AM. No way!
Dharma grunts and Merida steals my breath.
Dharma will stand at the edge of the bed and grunt to get me up — about every 15 seconds until she gets results. Merida sits on the bed beside where I lay and and hangs her head so her nose is inches away from my nose/mouth. If I move, her tail thumps the bed. The closer she thinks I am to waking up — because sometimes I fake sleeping — the louder and faster the thumping.
What they really want is breakfast or a treat for going outside.
If it’s before 8:00 AM when I give up and get up, they don’t get anything. If it’s still dark outside, breakfast is not served. You think they’d learn, right?
Nope. Their internal alarm clock is set for 6:00 AM and mine 8:30.
TIL (Today I Learned): The Shiba Inu is genetically the closest dog breed to wolves.
